Greek Legal Analysis: Alexi Giannoulias, Draft Dodger

TWS. Yet another Alexi lie. Pants on fire. Pants on fire.

From the guy who wanted to take a shot at Mark Kirk. Trolling for a vet to smear Kirk. The guy who accused Kirk of "economic treason".

Latest NY Times analysis Kirk probable to win the seat. Kirk's great debate may be a game-changer.

So Alexi and his Dem buddies are pulling out all the stops, suppressing not only military voting, and lying about it, but the legally-mandated Alexi family Broadway Bank report post-failure--you know, the one taxpayers bailed out to the tune of hundreds of millions after Alexi's hot money fueled loans to mob-linked felons, ex and otherwise.

Latest Politico poll shows independents are leaning GOP:

Expressing deep dissatisfaction with President Obama’s policies and performance, independents have increasingly sided with conservatives in the belief that government grew too large, too fast under Obama—and that it can no longer be trusted.

The Tribune poll bears this out.
Despite the statistical tightness of the race, the survey revealed several encouraging trends for Kirk and some troubling concerns for Giannoulias. Independents, suburban voters and Republicans are all moving toward Kirk. [snip]

Kirk's support among independents increased from 38 percent to 50 percent, the poll showed, while Giannoulias' backing among unaligned voters was relatively stagnant at about 28 percent. During that time period, the number of undecided independent voters dropped from 22 percent to 8 percent — with Kirk picking up virtually all of those deciding on a candidate.
In the Tribune interview, Alexi could not name a single program he would cut. He is not independent. He's an SEIU tool. Oh, yeah, who will he bail out during the lame duck session. And should he go to Washington he would rubber stamp these duplicitous and failed policies.

Alexi Giannoulias has proved himself untrustworthy time after time.

And frankly, someone who evades his obligations under the law--even of another country--is not worthy to serve this state.

Illinois Congressmen Urge FDIC Inspector General to Release Findings on Broadway Bank before Election

CHICAGO – Five Republican members of the Illinois Congressional delegation today expressed their concern regarding the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Inspector General’s decision to delay the release of a key report on Broadway Bank until after the November election. The delegation also announced it was sending a letter to the FDIC Inspector General urging the report’s immediate release.

On Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported that the “inspector general of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. typically issues a ‘material loss’ report, which details issues in a bank’s failure, about six months after the institution is taken over by the regulators. Broadway, which the FDIC accused of ‘unsafe banking practices,’ was closed on April 23, at a cost to the FDIC of $394.3 million.”

But, according to the Tribune, FDIC lawyer John Davidovich said the report is not expected within the next two weeks.

“A candidate for one of the highest offices in the nation sits at the center of your investigation,” the delegation wrote to FDIC Inspector General Jon Rymer. “We certainly understand the intense political pressure you must be facing. But your decision to withhold this report until after the election is a disservice to the taxpayers, especially the citizens of Illinois.”

A copy of the congressmen’s letter to Inspector General Rymer is included below. The letter echoes public statements issued yesterday by National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (R-TX) and House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA).

October 24, 2010

Jon T. Rymer

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

Office of Inspector General

3501 Fairfax Drive

Arlington, VA, 22226

Dear Inspector General Rymer:

On April 23, 2010, Broadway Bank was closed and the FDIC named its receiver. In a press release, the FDIC announced that the Deposit Insurance Fund incurred a $394 million material loss due to the bank’s failure.

Under section 38(k) of the FDIC Act, the FDIC Inspector General must conduct a review of any material loss greater than $25 million and report on its finding within six months of the loss determination. While yesterday marked six months since the FDIC declared by press release a $394 million material loss, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday that your office would not release the findings of Broadway Bank’s material loss review until after the November 2nd general election.

A candidate for one of the highest offices in the nation sits at the center of your investigation. We certainly understand the intense political pressure you must be facing. But your decision to withhold this report until after the election is a disservice to the taxpayers, especially the citizens of Illinois.

Therefore, we urge you to release the findings of your material loss review of Broadway Bank immediately to ensure this information is in the public domain before Illinois voters cast their ballots.

Sincerely,

John Shimkus Donald Manzullo Peter Roskam Aaron Schock Tim Johnson
